Julie Kavner, the voice behind The Simpsons favourite Marge Simpson, shared a message online amid comparisons to Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
After U.S. leader Donald Trump’s senior adviser Jenna Ellis tweeted on Wednesday that Harris “sounds like Marge Simpson,” Kavner embodied the mild-mannered mother-of-three for a message to Ellis, which she posted online.
Taking to The Simpsons’ official Twitter page, showrunners shared an animation of Marge stepping out into the spotlight onstage, as she says: “I don’t usually get into politics, but the president’s senior adviser, Jenna Ellis, just said Kamala Harris sounds like me. Lisa says she doesn’t mean it as a compliment.
“If that’s so, as an ordinary, suburban housewife, I’m starting to feel a little disrespected. I teach my children not to name call, Jenna,” she continues.
Cutting to a still of the Simpsons’ home, she concludes: “I was gonna say I’m pissed off, but I’m afraid they’d bleep it.”
Harris was picked by Democratic nominee Joe Biden as his Vice President earlier this week, and will officially accept the nomination at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) next week.
