The Younger star, 33, who is currently expecting her third child, took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday to share what happened. “Exposed to COVID. Quarantine day 2 Fml,” Duff captioned a selfie, following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to quarantine for 14 days in the event of exposure.
According to the CDC, pregnant people are at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19, along with other complications, such as preterm birth. The organization recommends that pregnant people follow the same preventative measures as non-pregnant people: Practicing social distancing, washing hands and wearing face masks. “Pregnancy induces changes in respiratory physiology and translates to lower thresholds for needed medical attention,” Dr. Amesh A. Adalja, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, previously told Yahoo Life.
Last month, Duff revealed that she was expecting her second child with husband Matthew Koma. “We are growing!!! Mostly me…” Duff captioned an Instagram video, which featured Koma affectionately rubbing her stomach.
The couple, who married in Decembe, have a 2-year-old daughter named Banks Violet. While Duff shares son Luca Cruz, 8, with ex-husband Mike Comrie.
Duff has done her best to protect herself throughout the pandemic, even sounding off on Instagram about the “Karens won’t wear masks” over the Fourth of July holiday.
“We took two walks today,” Duff wrote in her post, sharing a family photo. “Took a family nap. Took a drive. Drove by a raging house party on Mulholland. A******s. No masks (of course). Girls in bathing suits and Louboutins waiting to get in like a line at a club.”
